Staff Questionnaire - September 2024
A summary of staff answers and actions:
The survey was produced in a digital format and shared during September INSET with all staff. There were 37 responses in total compromising of staff at all levels of the school.
The school is extremely proud of the positive feedback provided by staff within the questionnaire. 480 out of 481 responses were set within the positive mode, (either agree or strongly agree) and 12 out of 13 questions had 100% positive responses.
The highest scoring, (strongly agree) questions were:
- Children are safe at this school, - 100% agree (92% strongly agree)
- I am proud to be a member of staff at this school, - 100% agree (89% strongly agree)
- I am aware of the school’s procedures relating to child protection, - 100% agree, (84% strongly agree).
- The school successfully meets the differing needs of individual pupils, – 100% agree (81% strongly agree).
The lowest scoring questions were:
- Communication is effective within the school, - 100% agree, (41% strongly agree)
- All staff consistently apply school policies, - 100% agree, (49% strongly agree)
- I know what we are trying to achieve as a school, - 97% agree, (3% disagree and 84% strongly agree)
The one person who disagreed with the statement, “I know what we are trying to achieve as a school”, provided the following wider context: “I feel that I have a vague idea, but it is not quite concrete at the moment.” School will speak to this member of staff and provide additional guidance on this key area.
In terms of communication, staff comments include returning to a wider number of Teacher and TA joint meetings, particularly around important issues. The school continues to allocate Wednesdays to directed time for training/meetings, so this feedback will be acted upon. Other staff mention the need for greater awareness of content in meetings and the opportunity to contribute to meetings they cannot physically attend. A solution to this has already been put in place.
Within these 3 lowest scoring questions, there are a number of further actions that the school could trial to see if they improve staff experience, listed below.
Actions:
- Speak with one member of staff regarding what the school is trying to achieve, including the school’s Ethos, Aims and Values and Mission Statement.
- Include further information within induction regarding the above.
- Improve staff communication via the teacher meeting minutes, allowing all teachers to see and contribute to a live document containing the minutes in advance and stay fully up to date with information when on flexible working days or off for illness or training.
- Increase the number of whole school meetings, (Wednesday) to improve wider communication around key issues.
- Increase staff understanding of school policies by running ‘policy groups’ similar to the school’s CP groups. Senior leaders will meet with a range of staff, (experienced/new) and highlight key points of certain policies, answer questions and provide a clear understanding of the purpose of a range of policies.
- Continue to share policies with all staff when updated.
- Continue to expect and ensure high standards of consistency, particularly around the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection policy and Positive Behaviour policy.
